24.ie Terms and Conditions

  1. General
  1. This page sets out the terms of use under which you must abide when becoming a customer of 24.ie. Once you become a customer you accept these terms of use and agree to be bound by them.
  2. 24.ie is registered in Ireland under company number 496574 and have our registered office at Unit 209 Business Innovation Centre, NUI Galway, Newcastle Road, Galway. The registered company name is 24 Hosting & Websites Limited (hereinafter referred to as 24.ie).
  3. VAT number is 9782179O.

  1. Content of Site
  1. You warrant and guarantee that each image, text, or other materials or content ("Content") which you submit to 24.ie to be used on your website:
  1. was created by you and is original to you;
  2. does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights;
  3. does not contain any material which is or is likely to be offensive, indecent, unlawful, obscene, sexually explicit, drug or criminal-related, defamatory, degrading or otherwise unacceptable content;
  4. does not contain any false information or representations that may damage 24.ie, the person featured in the image or any third party;
  5. does not constitute, encourage or display any bullying, violent, abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour or harassment of any person; and
  6. does not, and is not likely to give rise to civil or other liability and/or damages.
  1. You further undertake and warrant that you have the consent of every person featured in the content to allow use of their image, likeness, name, voice (and all other related personal rights) on the website.
  2. 24.ie reserves the right to remove or take down any content which it believes is in breach of these terms at any time.
  3. For the avoidance of doubt, 24.ie shall not be liable for any third party infringement of the intellectual property rights in your content. 24.ie will not be responsible, or liable to any third party, for the content or accuracy of any Content posted by you or any other user of the website.
  4. 24.ie does not provide a facility whereby we maintain or update the content on customer’s websites. This is the responsibility of each individual customer. The initial content will be added to the website provided it is submitted in digital format. A reasonable amount of content will be added to the site initially but extensive amounts of text, product lists or gallery items will need to be quoted. The addition of content to the website is charged at a rate of €40 plus vat per hour.
  5. 24.ie does not take responsibility for any spelling/grammar mistakes contained within content that that is submitted to be used on website.

  1. Design/Programming changes to Website
  1. Upon commissioning 24.ie to build a website the customer must outline clearly what they want the website to look like. Customers must outline colour schemes, what type of photographs they want, what type of layout they want. Information must be very specific. If possible customers should provide examples of websites they like. Once the customer has submitted all information only one design concept change will be permitted within the initial design of the website. All further design changes will be charged at a rate of €40 plus vat per hour.
  2. After the initial design has been completed any changes which require programming or design work must be paid for. Design changes are charged at a rate of €40 plus vat per hour. Programming changes are charged at a rate of €50 plus vat per hour.
  3. Additional features must be paid for. Some examples include; html pages, downloadable forms, shopping cart facilities, flash images. These features are charged at an hourly rate depending upon whether design/programming work is required.

  1. Training on use of website
  1. Each customer is allocated a certain amount of hours training depending on the package they purchase. E-commerce website packages allow for extra training. Any training over the package allowance will be charged at a rate of €40 plus vat per hour. The level of computer literacy required is outlined on each package.
  2. Training involves a representative of 24.ie taking remote control of customer’s computer and teaching them how to use their website. Call outs to customers premises are charged at a rate of €40 plus vat per hour.
  3. Each customer will be given a username and password to access both website and e-mail accounts. It is the responsibility of each customer to ensure these passwords remain private. 24.ie will not take responsibility for websites that are hacked into.
  4. To follow up on training each customer will be e-mailed a training manual on use of the website. This will include a breakdown of everything covered in the training session. If customers have further queries they can call or e-mail 24.ie.
  5. All training is done over the phone.


  1. Completion of Website
  1. Please allow 3 weeks for your website to be built. This is dependent upon all relevant information being submitted on time.
  2.  24.ie will not take responsibility for:
  1. Any delays on required information being submitted such as logo, company number, domain name, content etc.
  2. Delays caused by design changes requested by customer. It is important to clearly outline colour schemes as continuous changes to colour schemes will delay the process. Changes to banner will cause delays. Changes to page structure/buttons will cause delays.
  3. Delays caused by registered business name certificate required to secure a .ie domain. It can take three weeks or longer for business registration numbers to be issued by the Companies Registration Office.
  4. Delays caused by attempting to transfer a domain from a different provider.
  5. Delays caused by problems with a customers computer.

  1. Website Optimisation
  1. Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results
  2. 24.ie are happy to advise customers on search engine optimization. However, due to external factors, such as changes to the way search engines rank websites, the amount of competition in your area of business, the content on your website, 24.ie cannot offer any guarantees regarding the position your site will achieve on Google, Yahoo! etc.
  3. Customers will be given training on how to optimise their site using the keywords system. This system allows metadata information to be added to the website. Tips on SEO will also be contained in the user manual. It is the responsibility of each customer to update the keywords on their website. 24.ie do not accept liability for any change in rankings, or drop off in the position of your website due to changes in the algorithms of the search engines or the factors that they use to rank websites. Google rankings depend on a number of factors such as the nature of the business and the keywords used. 24.ie are happy to answer any questions customer’s have regarding search engine optimisation.
  4. Online marketing is not the responsibility of 24.ie. Any customers who require this service must outsource it.

  1. Payment of Accounts
  1. A set up payment is required from new customers before any work is carried out by 24.ie. The set up fee will vary depending on the package chosen by the customer.  All set up fees are non refundable.  For custom built high spec websites the set up/monthly fee will vary.
  2. The set up fee for building the website can be paid for online. All other monthly payments are taken by standing order. 24.ie do not store clients credit card numbers. A customer service agent will assist you filling in the online order form.
  3. Once the website is completed the monthly fee becomes due. Customers must sign a standing order/direct debit before the website is put live on the internet.
  4. Set up fee includes:
  1. Design of website
  2. Website programming
  3. Initial domain name registration
  4. Initial content will be added (must be in digital format)
  1. The monthly fee is non refundable. It is at the discretion of 24.ie to issue refunds in extenuating circumstances.
  2. It is the policy of 24.ie that any outstanding accounts for work carried out by 24.ie are required to be paid in full, no later than 30 days from the date of the invoice unless by prior arrangement with 24.ie.
  3. Once a website has been designed and completed the final balance of payment is then due in accordance with our payment terms. There are no exceptions to this, for example If the customer decides they no longer want the site, as they have commissioned the work and paid a deposit they are still obliged to pay for the work that has been done. Once full payment is received for a website, it is assumed that the project has been completed to the customer’s satisfaction and no refunds can be offered. We will contact customers via email and telephone to remind them of such payments if they are not received when due.
  4. If accounts are not settled within 30 days or 24.ie have not been contacted regarding the delay, access to the related website may be denied and website removed from the internet. 24.ie will attempt to contact each customer before resorting to removing the website from the internet. The website will be put into suspension before it is eventually removed from our servers. A notice of suspension will be displayed instead of the website.
  5. In the event of consistent non payment appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated
  6. If a customer’s business is experiencing financial difficulties due to the recession or other unforeseen circumstances and you are unable to pay amounts due please contact 24.ie and we will try to accommodate you.
  7. 24.ie reserves the right to change its price structure at any time. Quotes are valid for 7 days.
  8. Upon cancellation of the website and/or non-payment of the monthly fee 24.ie reserves the right to remove websites from our servers. The customer will be informed of this and given the opportunity to store any pictures/text on the website. It is not 24.ie’s responsibility to store this information. 24.ie take no responsibility for any information that is lost as a result of this.

  1. E-mail Accounts
  1. A certain number of e-mail accounts will be provided with each website package. Customers will be given a username and password for each account. Access is provided via webmail.
  2. Instructions on how to add e-mail accounts to microsoft outlook, windows mail and outlook express will be provided in the user manual.  All settings required to add e-mail accounts to mobile phones will also be provided. 24.ie does not take responsibility for ensuring that e-mail accounts work on any of these programmes. Webmail is the only facility that we guarantee the functionality of. If there are any problems with iphones, windows mail etc the customer must engage an independent third party IT company to investigate the fault.

  1. Packages
  1. The features in each package are clearly outlined and explained. Any features outside the package must be paid for.
  2. Customers must inform 24.ie if they require any special features that are not listed in the various packages.

  1. Domain Names
  1. 24.ie will purchase the initial domain name as part of the set up fee. One domain name will be purchased per package. Customers who require extra domain names must purchase these themselves. The domain will be registered in the customers name and they will be given access details. It is the customers responsibility to renew their domain every year thereafter. 24.ie will not take responsibility for domain names that have expired.
  2. Customers who require .ie domain names must provide 24.ie with all the relevant information for the domain registry. It is not 24.ie’s responsibility to deal with issues relating to the domain registry. All information regarding .ie domain names can be found on www.iedr.ie
  3. The packages are the same price even if a customer already owns their own domain name.
  4. Customers who own their own domain name(s) must either provide access to the control panel or we will advise them as to how to change the dns settings themselves.
  5. We currently use letshost.ie to purchase domain names. If a customer wishes to use another domain seller they must inform us.


  1.  Images
  1. All our images are sourced from reliable stock photography companies. All images that we use on customers sites are licensed for use by us. While we will attempt to source images advised by the customer sometimes certain themes are unavailable. If a customer wishes to select their own stock photos for the website they must purchase these themselves.
  2. If customers wish to use their own photos on header of the website they must be of a high quality.
  3. 24.ie will not take responsibility for any copyright issues that result if customers provide us with images that they don’t have the right to use.

  1. Facebook Link

Customers must provide a link to their facebook account if they want an icon put                 on their site. It is not the responsiblity of 24.ie to create facebook pages for                 businesses. This will incur extra cost.

  1. FTP / MySQL Database Access
    Customers will not be granted access to the FTP or MySQL database of their website unless they have been a customer of 24.ie for three consecutive years. 24.ie will not take any responsibility for any damage that is done to the website as a result of editing the code by third parties once this access is granted.

  2. IT Issues
    24.ie will not take responsibility for any problems associated with customer’s computers e.g local settings, servers. 24.ie is not responsible for customers IT issues. Any IT problems which occur are the responsibility of each individual customer.

  3. Cancellations
    Anybody wishing to cancel their website must inform 24.ie by writing or by e-mail. 24.ie must be informed if a customer wishes to cancel their direct debit. It is the responsibility of the customer to cancel their standing order. 24.ie will not issue refunds where customers forget to cancel their standing order. If a website is cancelled it will be removed from 24.ie’s servers within 30 days. 24.ie is not responsible for any information that is lost as a result of this.

  4. Your Privacy / Confidentiality
    24.ie shall not share or sell any of a customer’s details with third parties in the abscence of a customer’s express permission and 24.ie will only email you or contact you about matters relating to your website. We will only contact you to discuss your website or inform you of new offers.

  5. Variations to Terms of Use
    24.ie may revise these terms of use at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we made, as they are binding on you. Some of the provisions contained in these terms of use may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on our site.

  6. Jurisdiction and Governing Law
    These terms and conditions are governed by Irish Law and any disputes arising in relation to these terms and condition shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
